The United States believe that in Ukraine there is an opportunity for peaceful transfer of power. According to the White House website, such a statement was made by US President Barack Obama.

Obama entrusted the main responsibility for bloodshed in Ukraine. At the same time, he expressed the hope that street opposition recognizes violence unacceptable to resolve the crisis.

In addition, Obama warned against the involvement of the army in the conflict. The military should not intervene in issues that citizens should solve, the American leader said.

Meanwhile, Reuters, citing a senior government official, reports that the United States imposed visa sanctions against about 20 Ukrainian officials guilty of applying violence to demonstrators. Who exactly is included in the list is not specified.

The State Department noticed that "if the situation is settled, the sanctions are reversible." If the conflict continues, the interlocutor of the agency added, then "there are other steps that we can take in the coming days in close coordination with the EU."
