Prayer rooms in honor of the patroness of Russian students, Saint Tatiana, were opened in September in all seven universities of Kemerovo, Interfax reports.

According to the press service of the local diocese, this decision was made by the Governor of Kuzbass Aman Tuleyev and the Bishop of Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk Aristarkh.

The governor and ruling bishop “considered it necessary to satisfy the requests of many Kuzbass students to open a small house church in their universities,” the diocese notes.

In all prayer rooms, the leadership of the universities has made cosmetic repairs, there is a table and a cabinet for liturgical books, and icons of the twelve feasts with two lamps are hung along the perimeter of the four walls.

With the blessing of Bishop Aristarchus, priest Andrei Moyarenko, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, will provide spiritual care to all seven prayer rooms in the city.
