Is this a failure?

Ella Pamfilova will resign from her post “if she fails the elections.” Well, it’s a noble impulse, rare in our bureaucratic times. However, what do we mean by “election failure”?

That people will come to the polling stations, but the polling stations are locked? Or the polling stations are open, but the ballots have not been delivered? Or are there no pencils in the cubicles? Or is the vote counting system broken? Or was the turnout such that it would be easier to call it a “no-show”?

Or was everything in order with pencils, ballot boxes, doors and turnout, and they even managed to count everything quickly and accurately, but the calculations themselves were not pleasing?

To be honest, almost all previous elections can be called a “failure”. If you approach them from the point of view of fairness and legitimacy of the process. But I don’t even know what is meant now. If everything goes as planned, it will even be called “success”.
