Well, in short, in Moscow of fifteen million, six thousand, as it seemed to me, came out to march in support of the prisoners of the “Bolotnaya case” in particular and political prisoners in general. Some people who didn't come probably found some reasons, but the vast majority simply didn't care. Maidan, you say? Is this our city? Russia without Putin? As long as we're united?
It seemed to me that it was a march of despair, a march of hopelessness. Which, of course, does not cancel it. Thanks to everyone who came.
Whatever complaints there may be about today’s March, that it is pitiful compared to the Maidan, that it is not aesthetic enough, that it is again “in the fold,” the question is simple: to hold a march in support of political prisoners like the one that took place, or not to hold one at all.
For me the answer is obvious.
And the priorities of those who make a different choice are not to support political prisoners.
There were really a lot of people, despite the cold and the lack of coordination between opposition leaders during the organization of the procession. A little less than usual, but still a lot.
Now we can say...
In the process of preparing this procession, we had serious discussions about whether it was worth coordinating the action with the mayor’s office. But the verdict is ahead, and the overwhelming majority of the relatives of the Bolotnaya prisoners and their lawyers asked not to escalate the situation now. You can disagree with their opinion, but it’s impossible not to take it into account... At least we couldn’t...
I do not rule out that this was the last coordinated action in Moscow... Perhaps in future we will only notify... Bearing in mind that, by law, this procedure is of a notification nature... Or maybe we won’t notify... Let's see...
We attended the March in support of political prisoners, marched, shouted everything we thought about the authorities and what we are living with now. They shared their civic position. I am convinced that this must be done so that those concerned sleep poorly!
