The scandal between Russia and Tajikistan was resolved. Back on February 2, it was reported that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon canceled his visit to Moscow and will not come to either a meeting with Dmitry Medvedev or to the summits of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC). However, on February 3, Interfax reported that Rakhmon flew to Moscow. The official reason for canceling the visit is the energy crisis in Tajikistan, but experts are confident that Rahmon, who previously regularly attended all the summits of the CIS and related structures, is not satisfied with Russia’s position on the issue of building the Rogun hydroelectric station in Tajikistan. Recently, Medvedev said that Russia may refuse to participate in the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Central Asia if neighboring countries are against it, thus effectively siding with Uzbekistan, which opposes the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Tajikistan.
