We will never reliably know how many of them were in our country - the victims of the Civil War and the Red Terror, “dispossessing” and anti -religious campaigns, deportations and the Holodomor, Ezhovschina, the struggle against “enemies of the people” and “cosmopolitans” ... The Memorial speaks of 12 million repressed. Alexander Solzhenitsyn called a terrible figure of 55 million.

One way or another, their millions are peasants, priests, poets, workers, officers, scientists; people of all nationalities, religions and classes that disappeared in the broad open spaces of the Gulag archipelago ...

The Russian state gave an official assessment of this regime and its crimes at the highest legal level on November 30, 1992. In Decree No. 9-P, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation announced that "the leading structures of the CPSU were initiators, and the structures in the field were often the conductors of the policy of repression in relation to millions of Soviet people."

Russia and its people were among the first and main victims of the CPSU regime (b) -KPSS and OTC-NKVD-KGB.

Why am I?

Each year in Washington, next to a few quarters of communism established in a few quarters from Congress, a ceremony with the laying of wreaths is held. Every year, American politicians and ambassadors of foreign states participate in it. Each year, the organizers of the event - the memory fund of the victims of communism - are invited to the ceremony of representatives of the Russian embassy.

And every year, Russian diplomats leave an invitation unanswered.

At the last ceremony on June 9, wreaths from the embassies of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and several other countries were assigned to the foot of the memorial. There was nothing from the Russian Embassy.

There may be several explanations. Perhaps the organizers of the ceremony do not pass by the fax sent to the Russian embassy, ​​and the postal service loses their letters. Perhaps all senior employees of the Embassy of the Russian Federation on this day have urgent and more significant things.

Or maybe the representatives of the current government feel spiritually closer not to the victims, but to the executioners?
