It seems that the Investigative Committee has taken Alexei Navalny seriously and for a long time. Literally, the news just broke about the initiation of a criminal case against him and his brother for the alleged theft of 55 million rubles from a trading company. Navalny was left under recognizance for the second time, since this is already the second criminal case against him, the first concerns the alleged theft of property from the Kirovles enterprise. And now - a new case, and again “Kirovles”. True, for now they promise to only check Navalny for involvement.
The case was brought against the former director of the department of state property of the Kirov region, Konstantin Arzamastsev. The investigation believes that Arzamastsev exceeded his official authority when selling state-owned regional property - allegedly, as the director of the department, he signed an order on the privatization of the regionally owned 25.5% shares of Urzhum Distillery OJSC by selling them at auction at a significantly reduced starting price at 95.37 million rubles. At the same time, according to official representative of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin, Arzamastsev “knew that in reality the distillery enterprise is one of the most successful and profitable not only in the Kirov region, but also in Russia, and the real market value of the state share of the plant is no less than 197 million rubles." As a result of these actions, “the property interests of society and the state protected by law were significantly violated, which was reflected in the loss of income to the regional budget in the amount of 98.63 million rubles.” Navalny is mentioned among other government officials of the Kirov region who need to be checked for involvement in a crime (the oppositionist was previously an adviser to the governor of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh on a voluntary basis).
