The series of extensions of detention until March 6 for those accused in the case of the riots on Bolotnaya Square on May 6 was suddenly interrupted. One of the accused, Fyodor Bakhov, unexpectedly had his preventive measure changed and was released on his own recognizance. According to the Investigative Committee, “the main investigative actions” against him have “already been carried out,” and in addition, he has a small child.
According to investigators, Bakhov hit a riot policeman and broke through the cordon. He himself claims that he was hit in the back of the head with a baton and that riot police dragged him along the asphalt during his arrest.
There are 18 people involved in the riots case, four of them are already under recognizance not to leave the place, including Richard Sobolev, Oleg Arkhipenkov and Alexander Kamensky, who were in a different place during the unrest on Bolotnaya. Another defendant, Alexandra Dukhanina, is under house arrest. The rest are in jail.
In this case, the physical condition does not become a basis for either the investigation or the court to change the preventive measure. The most egregious case is the extension of the arrest of Vladimir Akimenkov, about whom it is known that he is going blind. His period of detention, like most of those under arrest, was extended until March 6.
