"Owl" is being interfered with

The director of the SOVA information and analytical center, Alexander Verkhovsky, has recently been subjected to threats from unknown persons several times. He is inclined to attribute this to the fact that at the beginning of 2008, his home address and other data were published in the list of “enemies of the Russian people” that appeared on the Internet. The first time unknown people showed up at his entrance was in July 2008, and this year they visited him twice already, the last time on the evening of February 21, and reached the apartment door. Verkhovsky also received threats from unknown persons by phone and email.

In mid-February, his deputy Galina Kozhevnikova also received a threatening letter. This happened on the eve of the presentation of the center's annual report. In the near future, on March 2, “Sova” will present a directory with information about nationalist organizations at the Independent Press Center, and Verkhovsky does not rule out that there will be more threats in this regard.

"Sova" conducts information and research work in the field of manifestations of nationalism and xenophobia, religious and social relations, and political radicalism. The center's area of ​​interest includes problems related to the protection of human rights and the prospects for liberal values ​​in Russia.
