Representatives of the Norwegian browser calculated which European countries are more interested in women's and educational portals, and which are interested in sports.
In the November report on the most popular domains in Europe, Opera developers took into account data from the mobile version of the browser. Despite globalization, the majority of Europeans preferred different sites. As a rule, with local specifics or popular only in certain states.
A general trend for individual regions can still be deduced .
Thus, the “News and Entertainment” category is top for most of the countries studied. Websites on this topic rank first in 23 of the 35 states studied. At the same time, at least one news portal is present in all top lists.
Search engines are the second most popular among Opera Mini users in this part of the world.
Residents of Spain and Romania are most often interested in sports news (portals in this category are in first place), and in the Cyprus ranking, 5 of the top 10 domains are sports.
In the category of international sites, the presence of social networks is quite large, but there are exceptions here: in Spain and Germany, local resources predominate. In the Pyrenean state, the local tuenti.com is in second place, and the German gutefrage.net is the leader in its homeland.
In Eastern Europe, search engines and educational sites have a strong position (Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia), and women's portals are most popular in France, Italy, Belgium and Macedonia. Austrians, Belgians, Danes, Greeks and Bulgarians are the most interested in the weather (where are you, Londoner?)
For Scandinavians, it seems that news is most important: sites in this category occupied the first lines of ratings in Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Norway. According to statistics, after reading and discussing information materials, they go shopping - following news portals on this very topic.
