The actor became famous for the role of Holmes in the BBC series, shot in the 60s of the last century. In 2012, he appeared in an episodic role on the screen with Sherlock performed by Benedict Cumberbetch. Douglas Wilmer also starred in blockbusters "Richard II" (1955), "Cleopatra" (1963), "El Sid" (1961), in the Bondian "Osminozhka" (1983).
