The assassinations of high-ranking Muslim figures in the North Caucasus continue. The new victim was the deputy mufti of North Ossetia, Ibragim Dudarov. He was shot near the village of Chmi on the outskirts of Vladikavkaz.
Dudarov's body was discovered late in the evening of December 26 in a Volga car on the Vladikavkaz-Chmi road. A criminal case has been opened under articles of murder and illegal weapons trafficking.
According to the mufti of the republic, Hadji-Murat Gatsalov, his deputy was shot when he was returning home: the car was stopped, Dudarov got out and was shot at point-blank range.
