The fight for the liberation of Oleg Kozlovsky from illegal conscription into the army is in full swing. On Tuesday, December 26, the leader of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, Moscow City Duma deputy Sergei Mitrokhin sent an appeal to the chairman of the Moscow draft commission, Moscow Mayor Yu.M. Luzhkov with a demand to cancel the decision to draft Oleg Kozlovsky. On the same day, a protest rally took place at the Russian embassy in Kyiv - activists of the Ukrainian organizations “Solidarity” and “Union of Hetman Statists” expressed support for those affected by the “sovereign” Russian democracy. Also yesterday, activists of the “Defense” movement in the Sverdlovsk region issued an appeal in which they demand the immediate release of “Defense” coordinator Oleg Kozlovsky. It will be transferred to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Defense and the Military Commissariat of the city of Moscow. The appeal was signed by the leaders of a number of public and political organizations. In particular, the leader of the Russian People's Democratic Union Mikhail Kasyanov, one of the leaders of the "Other Russia" Eduard Limonov, the leader of the United Civil Front Garry Kasparov, the coordinator of the "YES!" movement. Maria Gaidar, Yabloko youth leader Ilya Yashin, human rights activists Lev Ponomarev and Lyudmila Alekseeva.

The appeal states demands “to conduct a military medical examination to establish O. Kozlovsky’s suitability for military service; to provide him and his parents with the opportunity to appeal the decision of the military commission in court; to conduct an inspection and identify persons guilty of violating the legislation of the Russian Federation and, in accordance with the law, to bring them to responsibility." “We are convinced that the conscription procedure was politically motivated. We believe that O. Kozlovsky’s conscription carried out in this way is an attempt by the Russian leadership to get rid of an objectionable social and political figure, which represents another round of repression against the opposition,” the appeal says.
