The ecstasy of the occupier

The Ulyanovsk Regional Court upheld the verdict of the Leninsky District Court of Ulyanovsk to the coordinator of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov. Udaltsov was accused of beating Young Guard activist Anna Pozdnyakova and was initially sentenced to 240 hours of compulsory labor, but then the court replaced it with a fine of 35 thousand rubles. The oppositionist does not consider himself guilty.

The incident allegedly occurred on April 21 in Ulyanovsk, where Udaltsov arrived to participate in a rally. Pozdnyakova, under the guise of a journalist, began asking him questions, and then filed a statement that he hit her. It was even claimed that Pozdnyakova had a concussion, although a video of her jumping joyfully and telling someone that Udaltsov hit her casts some doubt on this.

Udaltsov responded by filing a complaint against Pozdnyakova, accusing her of false denunciation, but they did not initiate a criminal case.

After the regional court's decision, Udaltsov announced on Facebook that his defense would be preparing a supervisory appeal.
