The accusation of the director of the museum and the public center named after Sakharov Yuri Samodurov and art critic Andrei Erofeev, in the incite of religious enmity, has a political background. Famous human rights activists and public figures made such a statement. The text of the application was received by the editorial office of the faces.
"The state makes an obvious attempt to declare a criminal offense any discrepancy with the aesthetic ideas of clerical circles and thus legalize in our, formally secular state, religious censorship," the statement said.
“The maintenance of the prosecution is self -disclosional, it reveals its absurdity, it, in essence, is inquisitious,” the authors of the document say. “The prosecutor’s decree is literally saturated with the atmosphere of the Vedasky processes.”
Samodurov is accused in connection with the organization of the exhibition "Forbidden Art-2006" in March 2007. With the demand to bring the organizers of the exhibition to criminal liability, the prosecutor's office of the Orthodox-patriotic movement "People’s Council", uniting more than 200 Orthodox, veteran and youth public organizations, appealed to the prosecutor's office. Participants in the movement considered that the works from the exhibition insult the feelings of believers and contribute to inciting religious growth.
The exhibition "Forbidden Art" was launched by works that were not allowed for showing in Moscow galleries and museums by artistic councils or directors in 2006: naked nature, works using religious symbols and abnormitative vocabulary. Among the exhibits were, in particular, images of Mickey Maus and Lenin, pornographic pictures, obscene expressions against the background of crucifixion and other Christian symbols. You could see the exhibits of the exhibition through holes in the sheet.
Samodurov was previously found guilty under the 282nd article in connection with the exhibition "Caution, religion!". The exposition was defeated by six parishioners of the Church of St. Nicholas in Pyzhy in January 2003, also reached the Tagan inter -district prosecutor’s office, and then understood the Tagansky court. At that time, the prosecutor demanded for him three years in a colony with a settlement. The case was limited to a fine.
The 282nd article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to two years.
