I believe that all this means the start of another PR campaign under the code name “guarding the interests of the people.” Strangely, we are talking about actually state television, and
the notorious television people are none other than statesmen. Another thing is that our television, with the exception of the “Culture” channel, is not budgetary, but self-sustaining.
And what, exactly, will these public councils do in such conditions? To insist that scenes of violence on a mass scale are immoral? So it’s easier to switch to budgetary broadcasting of state channels and determine policy under the tutelage of a truly authorized supervisory board based on the experience of the BBC in the UK, and make commercial television pay, and not poke anyone’s nose into it.
But our “public figures” don’t want to rack their brains over what thoughtful and at the same time popular budget broadcasting could mean; they are given only supervisory functions, i.e. the right to evaluate and not be responsible for anything. I wonder what is moral in such a position?
Another question involuntarily arises in connection with possible immoral political behavior in the media, especially on TV, government bodies, authorized persons, etc. I wonder if the assessment of such acts will also be part of the intended functions of public councils? If so, who could be included in them from among public figures, especially leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church? It is especially interesting to know how it is possible to identify people with an independent position and moral authority “through popular vote,” given that the initiators of the undertaking under discussion are concerned about the massive decline in morals?
However, in a country where the main guardians of the interests of ordinary citizens are officials and intelligence services, and moral authorities must be elected by a morally sick community, it is easier to achieve harmony in social relations. In the end, no one is surprised by the existence of a party like A Just Russia, which is in opposition and at the same time fully supports the president’s course. Who knows, maybe this is a new word about morality?
