Never December 14th I have caused me any special associations. Day as a day. And then suddenly I look at the calendar and understand - this is the day of the Decembrist uprising. What is called, inspired.
But really, something is clearly related to the rally on December 10, 2011 on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow with those distant events on Senate Square in St. Petersburg on December 14, 1825. Namely: this is the second case in Russian history, when the well -fed representatives came out against the authorities - then the highest, and now the so -called middle class. This is not a "uprising of the masses." Not a promotion of dissidents. Ordinary people massively gathered in the square, guided by the principles of justice, human dignity and freedom. Only in this case is peaceful. No swords. With white flowers.
And then and now it was about the legitimacy of power. And then, and now someone took advantage of the situation, and someone at the last moment remained at home. There were those that with young enthusiasm were eager for battle. And there were others - who proposed “not to swing the boat”, to unite around the throne, to begin progressive reforms. Both that and on the other hand there were worthy people who thought about the good of the Fatherland, he wanted goodness, but wanted differently. Then they did not agree.
What else is related to these two historical situations? And then, and now it was obvious that she was ripening, that it was a kind of “prepared impromptu”. But not in the sense of backstage, but in the sense that it has been accumulating for a long time. And when people once again reassured, broke through.
What are the most important events in two squares - now in Moscow and then in St. Petersburg? Today is a peaceful demonstration. Most “rebels” do not fight for power, but require respect and legality. People with white ribbons and flowers for the masses do not want revolutions or coups. Moreover, many of them do not want to turn the marsh into the Maidan. And on December 24, they may not want to exchange a cozy coffee shop for standing in the fresh air. And it is obvious that these are civilian people who are not ready and not wanting any blood. And it is here that the historical parallels between the events on Bolotnaya and Senate are still ending.
