The European Court of Human Rights found Russia guilty of violating the principle of humanity in its treatment of prisoner Roman Belevitsky and ordered him to pay him 10 thousand euros in compensation. The court ruling states that Russia violated its obligations “not to subject anyone to torture, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment,” RIA Novosti reports. Belevitsky stated that he was kept in a cell in which the temperature, due to shields on the windows, reached 45°, and there was one toilet for 70 people.
