The second stage of the fifth round of six-party talks on the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula officially opened in Beijing on Monday after a year-long break. The official meeting of the full delegations of all six countries - China, North Korea, the USA, Russia, South Korea and Japan - opened with a welcoming speech from Deputy Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Dawei. The day before, Pyongyang said it would not give up its nuclear arsenal until Washington abandons its “hostile” course towards Korea and lifts last year’s financial sanctions.
