Experts have identified a number of violations in the work of the shelter at the St. Bogolyubovsky convent in the Vladimir region, the abbess of the monastery was deprived of guardianship rights, the press service of the regional administration told Interfax on Friday.
The inspection was carried out by a working group created by a decree of Governor Nikolai Vinogradov, which included representatives of the departments of education, health and social protection of the regional administration, the local diocese, the regional Internal Affairs Directorate and Rospotrebnadzor.
The working group came to the conclusion that in a number of cases the monastery charter, according to which children live, contradicts the norms and rules adopted for educational and social institutions. Thus, the duration of sleep in children is 7.5 hours, while the norm is from 8.5 to 11 hours. The general rise of children occurs at 05:30; their daily routine does not include free time. The diet does not contain meat or poultry. The diet is not followed. Violations of the sanitary and epidemiological regime and the organization of medical examinations for children were registered. By order of the abbess of the monastery, Mother Georgia, children do not study computer science.
The revealed violations served as the basis for depriving the abbess of the right of guardianship.
46 minors live in the shelter, 24 of them live at the monastery with their parents, 12 have guardianship in the name of the abbess. During the inspection, it turned out that ten children who found themselves on the territory of the monastery did not have legal representatives at all. At the same time, although the pupils’ personal files contain notarized copies of passports and birth certificates, the children do not have the documents themselves.
“This is explained by the fact that the inhabitants of the monastery, for religious reasons, refuse to issue identity cards using digital symbols. Thus, both children and their guardians are deprived of the right to receive survivors’ pensions, obtain citizenship and medical policies, collect alimony from parents, not performing their duties, as well as receiving social payments and benefits,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
At the same time, the working group noted that the living conditions of children in the monastery are close to those at home, children and adolescents are provided with premises for housing, food, study, personal hygiene, a pediatrician works in the monastery under a contract, there is a medical isolation ward, medical and treatment rooms , physiotherapy room.
Based on the results of the inspection, proposals were sent to the Vladimir diocese to eliminate the identified shortcomings; at the same time, patronage of the monastery was issued to eight minors under an agreement with the Kameshkovsky orphanage; five children were taken by their parents.
