The eight-page report was prepared by Christopher Columbus for the monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella upon their return to Spain. The document, written in Latin, contains, in particular, a description of the meetings of the Spaniards with the Indians. In 1493, Pope Alexander VI ordered its printing. According to historians who consider the text to be the first "papal press release", no more than 500 copies were printed. At an auction in London, the starting price of the relic will be 500 thousand pounds sterling.
