The mayor of Arkhangelsk, Alexander Donskoy, has been charged under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He is accused of falsifying a diploma of first higher education and illegal entrepreneurial activity. We already have a good tradition of imprisoning mayors, although you wouldn’t suspect Donskoy of being an oppositionist. He doesn’t just “support the course,” but wants to go further: close the borders, send the oligarchs to Siberia, cancel the elections. True, he was going to run for president. Even Putin spoke about his problems at a press conference: they say, perhaps all the troubles are from a quarrel with the governor.
