Putin's impasse

Putin drove himself to a dead end. The rating of the national leader is falling. It is already clear that he will not be able to achieve victory in the first round if the elections are honest. To take and go to the second round with Zyuganov, who may well win due to protest voices? Or decide on mass falsifications in order to ensure a victory in the first round, but at the same time get new mass rallies of protest and the dubious legitimacy of the election? The choice, confess, is heavy. But the presidential candidate himself condemned himself to this. (For us, too, the choice is gloomy - between Putin and Zyuganov in the second round. But many of my acquaintances, people of quite democratic views, said that Zyuganov would prefer Zyuganov in such a situation.)

There is nothing to change with the presidential election. The train has gone very far. Think Putin seriously about this scenario in the early autumn, most likely, he would have sent Medvedev for a second term. What to do now? To pinch the nuts? Turn repressions? In the highest echelons of power there are those who are ready to step on this path. And here Andrei Illarionov is right: if the authorities decide on this, brutal accelerations of rallies, murder of oppositionists, terrorist attacks, as if committed by “disagreed” and requiring the introduction of an emergency, will follow. Hope for one thing - the memories of the events in Egypt and Libya, unpleasantly ending for Mubarak and Gaddafi, are too fresh. And numerous personal assets abroad should keep representatives of the highest authority from this scenario.

Putin’s exit is one - to withdraw your candidacy from the elections. Of course, not at all because Mikhail Gorbachev proposed that, calling for conscience, but for reasons of ensuring his own security. Remove under some kind of plausible pretext and do everything so that Mikhail Prokhorov won, the only candidate who can arrange Putin and at the same time has a chance to win. It is clear that the young oligarch will receive support only in exchange for firm guarantees of the calm future of Putin himself, his family and his close circle. Of course, they will agree. The situation will force.

They will agree. What should we do? Those who are dissatisfied not only with falsifications in the elections, but also with the anti -democratic thieves regime that has developed in our country? We will have to choose between Prokhorov and Zyuganov. And with any outcome of the elections to demand, demand, demand. First of all, changes in the Constitution of Russia. It should ensure the real separation of powers, the full independence of the judicial system, the possibility of monitoring the executive branch by representative, real federalism, including budget, law enforcement agencies that protect the population, and not the authorities, effective public control over all authorities.

After amending the Constitution, as well as the laws on elections and political parties, it is necessary to seek early dissolution of parliament, new elections to the State Duma and new elections of the President of Russia. Moreover, the previous terms of powers should be restored: both the president and the Duma are elected for 4 years.

Changing the constitution is the key to building truly democratic Russia. And then everything will depend on ourselves.
