Putin gave up Syria

Russia “stands for the implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions, including 1559 on Syria and Lebanon,” as Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov elegantly announced Moscow’s change of position. This resolution demands the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon. Russia abstained from voting in the Security Council. But, according to a senior US administration official, during the Russian-American meeting it was agreed that Moscow would join the demand for the withdrawal of Syrian troops.
