From all sides

In Yoshkar-Ola, investigative actions are being carried out against Left Front activists Pavel Tolmachev, Andrei Svistunov and Ivan Mosunov. First, they were detained by special forces, employees of the Center for Combating Extremism and employees of the Republican Investigative Committee, the Left Front website reports, and interrogated. Then Tolmachev and Svistunov were taken to their homes and searches were carried out there without a court order. Computers, propaganda leaflets, and newspapers were confiscated. The Left Front states that “there is every reason to believe that the materials that the investigation will use as the basis for charges against Left Front activists are based on the illegal viewing of private correspondence on social networks and email.” Svistunov was given a written undertaking not to leave the place. As for Mosunov, he, as stated on the movement’s website, “has disappeared, there is no contact with him, his fate is unknown.”

Tolmachev is suspected of notorious preparations for organizing mass riots, and Svistunov is suspected of endorsing terrorism and preparing to overthrow the constitutional order.

The local Investigative Committee states that “from August to October 2012, text messages justifying terrorism addressed to an unlimited number of people were posted on the social network VKontakte. They express dissatisfaction with the existing order of government and justify the violent method of changing it.”

At the moment, an attack is underway on the Left Front, the organization is suspected of extremism, in connection with this, the coordinator of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, was recently summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee. There is no need to mention the imprisoned movement activists Konstantin Lebedev and Leonid Razvozzhaev.
