Memory of Memory Boris Nemtsov

The Organizational Committee of the March of Memory of Boris Nemtsov sent an application to the Moscow City Hall to hold a demonstration on February 26. The application indicates the route from Slavyanskaya Square to the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge, where an opposition politician was shot dead in 2015. Among the applicants are members of the Solidarity movement, Parnas Party, Yabloko, an unregistered party of progress and other opposition. Member of the Solidarity Federal Political Council Ilya Yashin said that the organizing committee “will do everything to coordinate the peaceful procession”, but it will take place in the center of Moscow, regardless of the position of the city hall.

The route of the procession: Slavyanskaya Square - Kitaygorodsky passage - Moskvoretskaya Naberezhnaya - Bolshaya Moskvoretsky Bridge to Kadashevskaya Embankment.
The aim of the action will be not only reverence for memory, but also “the expression of solidarity and support for ideas, democratic values ​​and goals of Boris Nemtsov’s activity”, as well as “condemnation of political repressions and violations of human rights”.
The march is planned from 13:00 to 16:00, the organizing committee said the event for 30 thousand people.

“We will do everything so that the event is agreed, we are peaceful power, we do not want arrests, clashes with the police. In accordance with the Constitution, we want to declare our requirements. But if the authorities will limit us, we will come out anyway, because we are free citizens, ”said one of the applicants of the event, Ilya Yashin at the congress of the Solidarity movement.

The Organizing Committee of Marshal Boris Nemtsov included members of movements “For Human Rights”, “Solidarity”, “Open Russia” and “Choice of Russia”, Puns, “Yabloko”, Party of Progress, Party of December 5, Moscow Helsinki Group, Ex-deputy of the State Duma Dmitry Gudkov and others.

Notifications of public events should be submitted to the authorities two weeks before the planned date of the event. On February 1, the initiators of the action transferred an open letter to the city hall with an appeal to allow the march on February 26. An appeal addressed to Sergei Sobyanin was signed by Vladimir Ryzhkov, Irina Prokhorova, Alexey Navalny, Dmitry Bykov, Vladimir Mirzoev, Emilia Slabunova. “The purpose of the document is to inform the mayor and his subordinates in advance about the upcoming mass action of the democratic opposition. Officials often refer to the lack of time to prepare the city center for such events. This time there will be enough time, ”Ilya Yashin explained then.

On February 10, the action of Boris Nemtsov’s memory was already agreed on Nizhny Novgorod (Boris Nemtsov was the governor of the region). The application was also submitted in Novosibirsk.

The politician was killed in the center of Moscow on February 27, 2015. Customers of the murder were not found. The upcoming march will be the third rally of memory. The first large action took place immediately after the murder instead of the stated “anti -crisis march” of the opposition.

In 2016, the opposition claimed the same route from Slavic Square, but the city hall proposed a demonstration from passionate to Sretensky Boulevard and further to Sakharov Avenue, then the organizers agreed with this.
