We reached the edge

A letter of priests in defense of unrighteously convicted made a noise. The assessments are very different: from the dismissive - “it is not clear how the priests signed the appeal differ from Navalny and Sable” - to the enthusiastic : “The incredible happened. The church spoke in a sound voice, from below. "

Someone saw in the letter “Demonstration of Power”, someone is a conspiracy with the patriarchy: ordinary priests could not take such a risk without a go-ahead. And someone believes that they could, but is amazed at the courage of the signatures-how are they not afraid?!

Why aren't they afraid? Surely afraid! All of them risk losing their jobs, many-a warm place abroad and in the capital, if they are not sent for the state, then they will drive into some darkness. But living people, suffered, suffered and, apparently, reached the edge ...

After 2012, the church merged with power almost to indistinguishable. When the state “went towards” the church authorities, sending Pussy Riot to the bars (so that it would be inconsistent with the “insulting the feelings of believers”), and the church in the person of its leadership, including for this, resolutely sided with the authorities, formed a bow, pleasant to the heart not only of the church nomenclature, but also many ordinary priests: the Church is the strength, we will now do such things, we will do all such things. Supported! We will lead the people to the kingdom of God!

This is not that the clergymen are so naive. Every person is subject to seduction of power - we recall the democrats of the first wave, who made many mistakes, also, not least, being fascinated by their power - for the good of the country and the people of course. But sooner or later, the veil falls from the eyes - and it is better when early.

It took the churches for seven years to come to a sobering. New greatness did not happen. The loaf of state funding that loomed on the horizon remained a chimera, although the regime has repeatedly increased its offers. But the appetites of the church elite grew. As the state regularly does not have enough money for medicines for sick children, although it is always ready to help the conditional sechin, so the church still cannot find funds for the formation of clergy, building up the reserves of the Orthodox “Orthodox cultural centers”. Metropolitan Hilarion, responsible in the church for science and composer part -time, is to arrange concerts for a wealthy public in order to look for money to the work of church graduate school.

But everyone was sealed, leaving the right to speak only specially appointed people. And already everyone was so accustomed to the Church of the Silent ... But the ice has started. And the spike of the church with the state cracked, yes. If only all the signatures are not hanged in the coming days on Senate Square (the Samara priests are already called "for conversations"), that trust will no longer. The authorities will have to think about the new “sweet friend”.

The letter of priests undoubtedly made a huge contribution to the piggy bank of civil independence. Once the day will come when the authorities look out in the morning in the window to see who is in line for “seduction” - and will not see anyone, only free and confident in their correctness who are not ready to sell their birthright for lentils.
