So, once again, a miracle did not happen: the Ministry of Justice refused to register the People's Freedom Party (PARNAS), led by Mikhail Kasyanov, Boris Nemtsov, Vladimir Ryzhkov and Vladimir Milov. The official reason is violations in the charter and documents submitted for registration. According to the press service of the ministry, the lists of party members allegedly “contain information about citizens who died before the founding congress on December 13, 2010, as well as information about minors and citizens who are not listed as registered at the specified place of permanent or primary residence,” ITAR-TASS reports.

Previously, representatives of PARNAS reported that regional branches of the Ministry of Justice called party members, summoned them, demanded that they write explanatory notes, and asked questions about when the constituent meetings of the regional branches of the party were held and how many people were present at them..

As for the party’s charter, it, according to the ministry, “contains provisions that contradict the law on political parties and other federal laws. In particular, in violation of Article 24 of the law on political parties, the charter does not provide for rotation of the heads of the collegial permanent governing body. The charter also contains other contradictions with federal laws.”

June 22 turned out to be a doubly unlucky day for Boris Nemtsov, who was also sentenced by a court in St. Petersburg to a fine of 500 rubles for participating in an unauthorized rally on March 31. Nemtsov was then detained in the northern capital. According to the court, Nemtsov knew in advance that the action was not permitted by the authorities, and even dared to call on other people and media representatives to participate in it. The politician was also accused of resisting the legitimate demands of law enforcement officers, but this charge was dropped because, according to Nemtsov himself and witnesses, during the rally a helicopter hovered over the venue, so even if some demands were made from the police officers , then it was impossible to hear them.
