TRIUMPHAL LIMONOVA

Limonov was allowed to hold a rally on Triumfalnaya on the 31st. The permitted action on the 31st on Triumfalnaya was once akin to the sky falling to the ground, the Danube flowing backward, and similar events, both symbolic and unlikely. But it happened. Allowed.

Now you can make fun of Eduard Veniaminovich in every possible way, praise him for his “deflection”, for the fact that he “fell under power”, acted as a “singer of the regime” and thereby earned his personal triumph at Triumphalnaya. But, my friends! I see no reason for scoffing! Limonov is very consistent. He continued to go to this square invariably month after month, year after year - even when the square was closed (not least to stop these annoying actions). He went and immediately ended up in the bullpen even when he became a completely “marginal” figure, lost all influence and respect in the protest movement and did not lead anyone else except not too many followers.

It has become good form to talk about Limonov as an old fool, offended by the fact that the masses chose not him, but other leaders, a shocking grandfather, splashing with saliva and pouring grist into the mill of power. But Limonov didn’t change! As one football player said, who was later eaten with crap for these words: “Your expectations are your problems.” What did you expect when you went to joint events with him? Standing under the same banners? Was it enough for you that Limonov is against Putin, just like you? But there were and are many people against Putin. The Nazis, over there, believe that Putin is bad because he doesn’t hang Jews and doesn’t kill black-assed people. You need to be able to choose friends and unite with them, having similarities on more than one issue.

Limonov defended the White House in 1993. He chose the fascist flag as the banner of his party, replacing the swastika with a lemon. He combined two disgusting phenomena in the name of his party and got National Bolshevism. What illusions did you have? In Abkhazia, in Transnistria, in Yugoslavia, he was not on the side that you were probably on. And if they started to annex Crimea only now, then Limonov tried to reconquer Kazakhstan back in 2001! How can he now not support Putin and not praise the regime, if the regime and Putin are doing exactly what Limonov has always dreamed of?!

So Eduard Limonov is the only one in this story who did not have to weathercock. The liberals were friends with him because he was against Putin, and then they became friends. The authorities did not like him and caught him on Triumfalnaya because he was against the authorities, but now they allowed his action because he “changed”. And Limonov - as Limonov was, remains so. And he achieved what he wanted. Both in Crimea and on Triumphalnaya.
