Political scientist Abbas Gallamov writes:
“Yesterday was the anniversary of the fall of the Chausko regime. About the fact that it was the most repressive regime in Eastern Europe and it was its creator that turned out to be the only head of state that was executed, I already wrote.
The second lesson, which makes sense to extract from this story, is that the dictator did not rebel, but yesterday's ally, which were quickly moving to their side. Realizing that the “genius of the Carpathians” got so much that it was easier to get rid of him than to protect him, they organized a hasty tribunal, according to which the former cartridge was shot.
It is interesting that with the help of this simple trick, the ruling elite of Romania managed to maintain power. Of course, not all of it succeeded: some lost their posts, others fell on trial. But in general, the retraining operation was successful. As the former leader of the Romanian Komsomol Ilestru, who became the new head of state, explained: "After all, the people did not rebel against communism, he rebelled against Chausko ..."
This is a good example of how elites can organize their own political survival. ”
