On February 15, the Moscow Arbitration Court partially satisfied the claim of the wife of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, Elena Baturina, and the construction company Inteko, which she heads, against the co-chairman of the United Democratic Movement "Solidarity" Boris Nemtsov for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. The court ruled that Nemtsov must pay Baturina 40 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage and refute one of the five fragments of his report “Luzhkov. Results” listed in the lawsuit.

Here is the fragment: “Facts are stubborn things. Nowhere except Moscow is Baturina’s business developing successfully.”

Baturina initially demanded 200 thousand rubles in compensation, as well as a refutation of four more fragments of the report, which, in her opinion, were untrue and discredited her business reputation. In addition, the plaintiffs asked the court to oblige Nemtsov to sign a document prepared by them with refutations, which they would have the right to publish in the media at their discretion. The court, however, did not satisfy these demands.

Previously, Luzhkov himself had sued Nemtsov because of this report, but not all of his demands were satisfied.

Nemtsov later stated that he was ready to refute this fragment of the report, although he did not rule out that the court’s decision could be appealed.
