Every time I breathe a sigh of relief and do not hide my feelings. Thank God that I am not a Jew, thank God that I am not Caucasian, not gay, not disabled (pah-pah). Thank God that I am absolutely that same average Russian. Because for anyone who is somehow different from us, life in Russia is bad. And besides, it’s dangerous.
We live in a particularly dense country. Therefore, there is no particular point in being outraged by the carnage that the capital’s gay pride parade has turned into. It would be surprising if things turned out differently. The soul of a Russian is full of prejudices, ignorance, unimaginable fears, he is overcome by temptations and demons, and his head is full of sawdust.
Not so long ago in the country people were simply sent to prison for sodomy - well, what do you want? Most citizens are sure that homosexuals are perverts, sick people who need to be treated, and some even think that it is even better to kill everyone on the sly.
When they first started talking about the gay pride parade, the fevered imagination of these people gave rise to pictures of mass copulation of sodomites on decorated platforms moving towards the Kremlin. Men with whips, in latex and on a leash. The horror of the Fall and the propaganda of debauchery! How can this be allowed?!
And no one listened to the organizers, who assured that everything would be so politically correct that if not for the completely innocent posters, no one would have guessed that it was gays who came out to protest - so, people go and go.
In response to the conciliatory statements of the sexual minorities, they heard Svetlana Goryacheva, trumpeting, akimbo, some of her law enforcement past, from which she drew such deep knowledge about perversions that she easily called those who liked “fun” with corpses exhibitionists, apparently confusing them with human exhumers a rare and necessary profession. It’s possible to get so sinful, Goryacheva continued to be rhetorically horrified, that these same exhibitionists or zoophiles are allowed into Red Square - they are also citizens, and they also have rights and problems. What can you object to here? Sowing debauchery with coffins and animals on a leash and near the walls of the Mausoleum is shame and disgrace, you can’t argue with that.
The city authorities also laid out an unbeatable trump card, like, all sorts of processions create traffic jams, and the surrounding residents don’t like it either. Traffic jams are really everywhere, and residents, if they had their way, would prohibit any demonstrations or pickets at all, because they don’t like anything. Truly so! But the gay pride parade is a trifle, but the rehearsal for the military parade in the center, with the streets blocked for many days, was simply annoying. There are gigantic traffic jams and great discontent. So, after the gay pride parade, should we also cancel the Victory Parade, since it gives Muscovites terrible hemorrhoids not just for one day, but for a whole week?
It will be years before the public masses even agree that not being heterosexual does not mean being a pervert and practically a criminal. It’s just how nature ordered it - and that’s all, no more and no less, no better and no worse. And then it turns out that since they are different, but still normal, they have rights and problems that require recognition and solutions.
But it won't be soon. In the meantime, communists, patriots, Orthodox activists, skinheads and fans, who attacked gays with blows at the fence of the Alexander Garden, showed everyone that there is no difference between them, except for stage costumes.
