Ali Magomedov
As is known, in the USSR, as the state program of revolutionary restructuring of the country and society as a whole was implemented, all peoples were subjected to various repressions. Including such as forced deportation with subsequent deprivation of civil rights based on ethnicity, which befell a number of small peoples of the country. A particularly massive blow was dealt to the peoples of the North Caucasus. The entire second half of the twentieth century is replete with measures to correct the unnatural situation artificially created in the country as a result. At the end of the 80s, the first publications about national repressions appeared. Scholarly historians are trying to find a way out of the labyrinth of state fabrications, accusatory and exculpatory interpretations of what was done, acceptable to the authorities and science. Disputes, discussions, conferences, symposiums - a lot of things are said and written, but things, like those of the fabulist Krylov, are still there.
When he gets serious, he will discover the following. The history of not just our fatherland, but the entire world civilization consists of “ethnic repressions.” So why should we lag behind? What is the fault of the USSR and its leader Stalin, if all over the world, since ancient times, people have done nothing but fight with each other, destroy each other on ethnic grounds. That is, why did they kill in vain just because they didn’t like each other? Like chatting over beer, if not the first mug has been drained, this is all right, but what does science have to do with it? It’s true, history tells of conflicts between tribes, states, coalitions, wars, battles, mutual extermination due to one reason or another. But how can not only a historian, but simply a citizen who has completed the high school curriculum, confuse all this with repression? With ethnic repression? Is it really necessary to remind someone that repression is a punitive measure, a punishment applied by the authorities against an undesirable individual, a group of people, even an entire nation, as was the case, for example, in the history of America with indigenous ethnic groups - the Indians. But in such cases we are talking about the methods by which the supreme power controls the society entrusted to it, and not about the fact that an ethnic group “represses” an ethnic group. However, throughout his fundamental work, I. Aliyev stubbornly adheres to his simple concept, on the basis of which he asserts the naturalness and inevitability of “ethnic repression” in our country. No one is to blame for the violation of the constitutional rights of entire peoples; no one violated the civil and criminal code. Simply, ethnic groups fought among themselves and repressed each other. However, the suspicion creeps in that the author of this “scientific research,” although he wrote almost 500 pages, has little knowledge of historical science. Indeed, in modern times, the very fact of publication says little: whatever you write, pay, and you will get a book. Pay and you'll get a degree. Pay and you will get a position... Grimaces of a market economy. But what is not true is not true, even under socialism, even in the market era. Ethnic groups may not get along with each other, but they have never repressed each other. When building a concept that claims to be scientific, it would be good to still understand the meaning of the basic concepts on which it is based. However, the reader should keep his eyes open and not waste his time on trifles. Nobody forces us to read illiterate works.
“The main source of tension today is the lack of awareness, both at the level of official state policy and at the level of mass psychology, that our country is a world of worlds, different cultures and civilizations, this is the neighborhood of many countries and states tired of their colonial and colonizing of the past, tormented and humiliated by Stalin’s unification... The national problem has become all-encompassing today. It absorbed - and could not help but absorb - all other problems, including economic ones...”

“Having looked around soberly, we will clearly understand that we have nothing to share. The basis of our general trouble is the lack of normal statehood. The existing one embitters and humiliates people, and embittered people easily create the image of a national enemy...”
