The international human rights organization Amnesty International has accused Russia and China of supplying arms to Sudan, thereby violating the UN embargo. The report alleges that the weapons are used by government-backed Janjaweed militias in the country's western Darfur region, where armed conflict between Sudanese authorities and local rebel groups has continued since 2003. The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Sudanese government deny this information. Also mentioned as arms suppliers are Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Belarus.
