Against the movement

On April 18, the Moscow City Court recognized the Movement against Illegal Immigration as extremist. DPNI activities are prohibited. Thus, as Ekho Moskvy reports, the application of the Moscow prosecutor was satisfied. According to the prosecutor's office, "participants and leaders of the movement more than once took part in events aimed at inciting ethnic hatred." During the trial, a representative of the supervisory agency mentioned four court sentences issued against regional branches of the DPNI for extremist activities.

Former DPNI leader Alexander Belov previously insisted that the case of banning the organization should be heard in the Supreme Court. Belov considers DPNI an international organization, since there are branches in Ukraine and Belarus.

It should be noted that DPNI has recently presented itself as an organization loyal to the authorities. After it became known that the activities of the DPNI had been suspended by the prosecutor's office, the leadership of the movement stated: the authorities are afraid that the events on Manezhnaya Square will lead to a repetition of the Egyptian scenario. At the same time, the DPNI leadership emphasized that they did not need the Egyptian scenario at all.
