The lawyer of the arrested members of the Pussy Riot group, Nikolai Polozov, appealed to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with a complaint about “numerous violations committed during the investigation of the case” about the punk action in the KhHS, reports the SOVA Information and Analytical Center.
Among the violations mentioned:
- violations of the examination (“the third examination was ordered by the investigation without the knowledge of the defense, and its results were obtained earlier than the previous one, which is illegal”),
- time frame for familiarizing yourself with the case (the defense was given a month to familiarize itself with seven volumes of documents),
- an oral, rather than formal, refusal to copy photo and video files seized during the investigation.
"...We filed a complaint with Prosecutor General Chaika about numerous violations committed during the investigation of the case. In particular, the examination. Let me remind you that the third examination was ordered by the investigation independently, without our knowledge, and its results were received earlier than the previous one, which is illegal. Deadlines for familiarization with case, in which seven volumes have actually been reduced to one month, and on Wednesday they want to limit this period in court. It turns out that we have 30 seconds to familiarize ourselves with one page. And in addition to written materials, there are also video recordings in the case, which we can view now there is no possibility,” Polozov told the Russian Agency for Legal and Judicial Information.
The investigation is going to apply to the Tagansky Court of Moscow with a petition to set a deadline for the parties to familiarize themselves with the materials of the criminal case until July 9, 2012 (remember, the investigation was completed in early June and at the same time the lawyers and defendants began to familiarize themselves with the case).
The lawyer also complained about the treatment of his clients in the pre-trial detention center: they are constantly being filmed, which unnerves even their cellmates.
