“I am shocked by the news of the suicide of Liam Scarlett,” the choreographer Alexei Ratmansky wrote on his Facebook. - What is the tragic loss of rare choreographic talent. How many amazing ballets he could still create! After accusations of inappropriate behavior less than two years ago, the companies in which he worked, removed his ballets from the repertoire and annulled all future contracts with him. <...> Liam knew that he had no future as a choreographer. It killed him. This should not have happened. "
“He was a choreographer in Royal Opera House in Covent Garden since 2010,” the director of Dmitry Chernyakov said the magazine “Theater”. - One of the youngest in the history of the company. A few years ago he was accused of sexual harassment against dancers, and all companies stopped working with him and removed all his performances from the show. All his future contracts were canceled. Nevertheless, it is known that the investigation did not find evidence confirming the accusations. Newspapers evasively or sparingly write about what happened. They write that the causes of death are unknown. What could be unknown here? At the age of 35, being gifted with a choreographer with a brilliant career, to suddenly remain without a future, erased from everywhere, with colleagues who avoid him, as a leper. Everyone turned away from him. It killed him! "
