On July 22 at 19.00 on Chistoprudny Boulevard near the monument to Griboedov there will be an action in memory of the anti-fascist Ilya Borodaenko. The third anniversary of his murder marks July 21.
Borodayenko was an environmentalist and a participant in the Autonomous Action movement. On July 21, 2007, a group of Nazi skinheads attacked an environmentalist camp in Angarsk. Environmentalists opposed plans to create an International Uranium Enrichment Center (IUEC) in the region. As a result of the attack, Ilya Borodayenko was killed and two of his comrades were seriously injured. A criminal case was opened, and it was not about murder, but only about hooliganism and causing grievous bodily harm. All 20 defendants were released from custody six months to a year after the attack. One of them, Evgeny Panov, over the past two years has become a defendant in three criminal cases related to attacks on people motivated by ethnic hatred. At the beginning of July 2010, he was arrested and placed in a pre-trial detention center.
The Angarsk City Court three times sent the case materials for further investigation to the Investigative Committee at the Angarsk Prosecutor's Office due to deficiencies in the preparation of the case materials and other shortcomings of the investigators. Court hearings in the Angarsk City Court are scheduled to begin for the fourth time on August 12 .
