A sigh of relief

After 12 years of negotiations and mutual speculation, Vladimir Putin and George Bush signed an agreement on Russia’s accession to the WTO at the summit in Hanoi (November 18-19). Agreements were reached with all participating countries; the last word remained with the United States and Costa Rica. The only thing that darkens the joy: “the political will of the President of the United States” is not the end yet. Still, it is not clear how we will be “entered” into the WTO with such “protection” of intellectual property, fulfillment of export obligations and other delights.
