Three explosions occurred in Grozny on the evening of August 31. Nine people were killed and 23 people were injured. Seven died on the spot, two died later in the hospital. Among the killed were seven law enforcement officers, and among the wounded were 18 security forces. The condition of six of the wounded is serious. According to the official representative of the Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, quoted by ITAR-TASS, “during operational search activities, law enforcement officers identified three individuals who committed self-detonation during arrest.”
A criminal case has been opened under five articles: encroachment on the lives of law enforcement officers, murder, attempted murder, illegal trafficking in weapons and illegal manufacturing of weapons. The case was transferred to the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District, ITAR-TASS reports. Employees of the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee went to Chechnya.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, already knows everything about at least one of the suicide bombers: as he said during a meeting with well-known religious figures in the republic, “this is the brother of another terrorist who committed a similar bloody crime a year ago. It turned out to be a family of terrorists.”
