Media empires are back

Alisher Usmanov, head of Gazprominvestholding and co-owner of Metalloinvest, after the successful purchase of Kommersant, decided not to limit himself to this. The businessman’s immediate plans include purchasing a 50% stake in the 7TV channel. Now 7TV is a deeply unprofitable sports channel; whether anything will change with the arrival of Usmanov, one can only fantasize for now, but the sports channel is unlikely to remain. That’s the price for all the talk about getting rid of “oligarchic television.” The laws of business remain the same, but the people are different.
