We would like to remind you that Novaya Gazeta journalist and Daily Journal author Irina Khalip, as well as the editor-in-chief of the Charter'97 website Natalia Radina are among the 19 accused of the mass riots on December 19. They face up to 15 years in prison.
In addition to Khalip, the list includes her husband, one of the opposition presidential candidates, Andrei Sannikov. Their three-year-old son Daniil is looked after by Khalip's parents. However, on December 24, Khalip’s mother learned from the kindergarten staff that the guardianship authorities were interested in Daniil. Guardianship officials came to the kindergarten. So far, the Nasha Niva website reports, the child was given to his grandmother, but they were warned that the process of establishing guardianship would be long and difficult. Khalip's parents now say that Daniil will no longer go to kindergarten.
