The main beneficiary of the political crisis and the coup in Kazakhstan is not Tokaev, but Putin, to whom Kazakhstani events presented two gifts at once.

Firstly, Putin received in the person of Tokayev a much more accommodating, much more concessive partner, who was originally in the junior position, in the initially subordinate pose, in which Nazarbayev never stood in relation to Putin.
