The President of Turkmenistan signed a law that completely stopped the payment of pensions to disabled people, former collective farmers and other categories of elderly people. Only women with at least 20 years of work experience in the republic and men with more than 25 years of experience retained the right to state pensions. In addition, the law has retroactive effect, so pensioners who fall out of the categories listed in the document will have to return the money previously paid to them. As a result of the reform, more than 100 thousand pensioners will henceforth not receive a penny from the state.
