The Russian authorities tightened migration legislation. The fines that illegal immigrants themselves are taxed, as well as employers who use their work, increased significantly (2.5-3.5 times). The statute of limitations in cases related to illegal migration has increased from two months to a year.

This is only one solution in the long list of others affecting the position of migrants and on the demographic situation in Russia. First of all, it should be noted that, despite the fact that the upcoming demographic crisis has long become a common place even in official rhetoric, no meaningful migration policy in Russia has appeared. The law on citizenship, which was actively promoted by some famous characters from the presidential administration, provided such restrictions that the president had to intervene.

In addition, often the actions of the authorities taken in other areas, in no way connected with demography, entail consequences that worsen the situation even more. A fresh example is an alcohol-party crisis, during which the authorities did not take into account that the population was ready to be poisoned with colognes and other alcohol-containing liquids.

Today's Russian realities are such that the very formulation of the question of blocking the flow of illegal migrants to the country is incorrect. The task is not to “prohibit”, erecting walls and cordons, but to create conditions for the legalization of immigrants. In our country, a large number of illegal immigrants really work in our country. This is a problem not of Russia alone. The United States, for example, did not cope with a similar problem. They are going to build a wall on the border with Mexico, try to solve the problem in the ancient Chinese way.

If the Russian authorities do not see other ways, then the tightening of sanctions that apply to companies using the work of illegal immigrants is a step in the right direction. Today, it is economically beneficial to use illegal immigrants, because, among other things, they are completely not protected by either labor or any legislation at all, they are in a powerless position, agree to any work, live in inhuman conditions and can be thrown out with unnecessarily.

The state must control these processes, collect taxes, including a single social tax that goes to the medical and pension provision of citizens. Today, illegal immigrants pay to police officers who hardly transfer this money to the budget or state pension fund. Thus, the struggle with companies using the work of illegal immigrants, the creation of conditions under which this becomes economically unprofitable is the right decision. Although doubts about the effectiveness of this separate measure remain, since instead of legalizing migrants, a surge of corruption can be obtained. Unfortunately, all our good intentions are on the way that does not lead to the temple.

In parallel with the tightening of measures that are applied to illegal immigrants and companies using their work, it is necessary to extremely facilitate the registration process, make it simple and transparent. To issue a residence permit, work permit, if there is a company ready to provide a workplace. Create conditions for naturalization - obtaining citizenship.
