Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba, DPRK, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua, Syria, Sudan ... No, this is not the latest list of international outcasts. This is the latest edition of the Russian list, sorry for the expression, allies. 11 states dared to openly support Moscow’s position on the annexation of Crimea. I feel, Vitaly Churkina will heal. Where did Argentina go, whose president the day before (according to the Kremlin press service) warmly supported the capture of the peninsula? And why, damn it, missed such an important country as Vanuatu? In general, before our eyes we reached the mice ...
Exactly one hundred states voted for a resolution that claims that “a referendum held in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol on March 16, 2014, without legal force, cannot be the basis for any change in the status of an autonomous Republic of Crimea or the city of Sevastopol.” Members of the General Assembly confirmed their commitment to sovereignty, political independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its international boundaries. They called on all states to “refuse and refrain from actions aimed at partial or complete violation of national unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including any attempts to change the boundaries of Ukraine through a threat of force or its use or other illegal means.”
The resolution also calls for countries not to recognize any change in the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol and refrain from any actions that could be interpreted as a recognition of a change in status. Russia is not called directly in the resolution, but it is quite obvious that the international community (whose opinion has recently loved to refer to the Kremlin) resolutely did not agree with Putin-Churchinsky explanations.
When such a resolution was adopted in 2009 by events in Georgia, it was adopted by half the vote. The rejection of South Ossetia and Abkhazia then condemned only 48 states (the rest chose to refrain). Today, the situation is clearly not in favor of Russia. The formidable statements of domestic diplomats that the resolution aims to injure the anti -Russian "hysteria" make less and less impressions. Our country turns into the largest world outcast. I suspect that very soon the tasks of domestic diplomacy will be reduced to the struggle for the position of Vanuatu ...
