The Parliament of the Chechen Republic asked Moscow for money to compensate for damage to victims of political repression during the Great Patriotic War: 18.1 billion rubles now, and then 10 billion annually, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes. Experts believe that Chechnya wants to receive compensation from the Kremlin for abandoning the agreement on the division of powers. After all, now the provisions on direct presidential elections should disappear from the Chechen Constitution, the parliament will become unicameral and will be elected by party lists. It is possible that reference to the sovereignty of the republic may be removed from the text of the Constitution.
