I have a personal attitude to my first (I hope-it is the last) Russian-Georgian war.

Many times I publicly said that there would be no war - it is too disadvantageous for both sides. Georgia will obviously lose military terms, Russia, just as obviously, will tolerate political defeat.

As you know, everything happened exactly.

What did you fight for?
Georgia was defeated, almost occupied.

The year after the war, Russia brought such results. Nobody recognized Yu. Ossetia and Abkhazia - which shows the degree of respect for Russia. The CIS did not even think of “condemning Georgia”, but Russia's relations with all the CIS countries worsened very much (each in their own way). Relations with the EU also worsened, although not dramatically. Apparently, this time a decision was really made on the construction of Nabukko. And although it is mainly because of the gas wars, the war with Georgia clearly played a role.

In general, the highest achievement of Russia for this year-something managed to "light", "could be worse." Brilliant success!

Russia received a gift in the form of “independent Yu. Ossetia” - 50,000 inhabitants, Russia replaced - officially - 25 billion rubles for the restoration of the country. (In addition to those 3 billion that we spend every year on the maintenance of this “independent state”). Moreover, Yu. Ossetia, in all depending on the budget of Russia, is really trying to be independent of Russia itself - in any case, "the tail tries to wag the dog." Mr. President of Kokoita often does not lead not “Russian”, but his policy-implying that Russia will still pay for the pots interrupted by Russia.

As for Abkhazia, it is funnier there!

Russia generally controls them little! Now Abkhazia adopts the law on the return of citizenship of part of the Georgians, expelled from there until 2000. This means that Abkhazia theoretically discovers the possibilities for itself to either agree with Georgia about some “union of states”, or flirt with Turkey, or, in any case, independently, as a “civilized state”, look for exits to the international community. The meaning is obvious: unlike the poor Yu. Ossetia, Abkhazia can live independently and very well - at the expense of resorts. She needs some international legitimation for this-and she will try to get her.

All these things were absolutely obvious a year ago.

They could not see this. At least, to assume such consequences with a high probability.

So why climbed?

Whom God wants to punish - deprives the mind. Agree. But how did the “deprivation of reason” for Georgia and Russia?

Moreover, it does not matter at all, "who was the first to start."

I believe that Georgia began serious fighting - most international experts are talking about this. But Georgia, of course, provoked Yu. Ossetia. And of course, Russia could not but be aware. And of course, the Russian army was also preparing. Actually, this is obvious to everyone - both sides were eager for battle, knowing very well about each other's intentions.

So why is reasonable people (and I have no doubts in the right sense of the leaders of Georgia and Russia) raised a military dispute meaningless for both sides because of a straw bundle?

I can explain these obviously unprofitable actions only one thing: dizziness from success has exhausted, pride in the mind overshadowed.

To press on the gas, keeping the leg still on the brake, not burying, without doing anything irreversible, to stick out a little, to touch the surroundings of yourself a little. If it comes down, then it will be seen. And if not, nothing terrible happened.

The pride of Georgia grew about similar laws.

Everything is the same: after the chaos of the 90s-restoring order (though in Georgia, order-it seems!-they brought it real, corruption did not multiply, but still divided). Economics growth (by the way, not oil). Friendship with Uncle Sam gained new turns. Today is Adjara, our Abkhazia is all ...

Of course, there is a “little difference”: Georgia wanted to return its own, but Russia did not have relations with Yu. Ossetia and Abkhazia (except for the preset -to -the -term “distribution of passports”).

But according to the Western "law enforcement practice", the separatists from the "grades" are not fired! At least when Russia did it in Chechnya, the EU and the USA “condemned”. And when Serbia did something similar with the separatists, NATO ended with the “humanitarian intervention”. Yes, Georgia did not have time to go so far, but the beginning was promising ...

In general, if the requirements of Georgia for separatists are quite within the framework of international law, then the implementation of these requirements is not within the framework. But how else to implement the requirements? An interesting question ... But Western human rights activists prefer not to think about it.

Be that as it may, the actions of Georgia were adventurous. Adventurous because Georgia was doomed to military defeat. But the adventurous also because if (imagine a miracle!) Russia for some reason did not intervene, the “victory of Georgia” would lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Yu. Ossetia. According to the UN, 30,000 people fled to North Ossetia in August 2008. And this “humanitarian disaster” would become a disaster for Georgia - for its relationship with Western public opinion. What Russia was allowed, they would not allow Georgia. If Israel - with its strategic relationship with the United States, with an influential layer of intellectuals supporting it (Jews and not only) - Western public opinion hates, then that European media would turn Georgia! For the sake of Saakashvili and “against Russia” no one would turn a blind eye to these 162 killed civilians and 30,000 refugees. Iraq did not forgive the world media-with what joy will they even forgive Saakashvili? ..

Of course, killed, and 12,000 Georgian-refugees, and the plunder of Georgian sits on which ones. But although I do not like to beat the names, but it is true: what is he?! Who is he for the West? No one call Hamas. And, although Israel is cursed, Hamas for the Western media does not exist at all as an organization that can be discussed in terms of at least some “morality”. So Georgia and Yu. Ossetia in any case are measured by different measurements. Although Georgia has achieved this.

Georgia, for its happiness, lost! She fell into the position of the "victim". She won her Pirrov Victory, she would be much worse - support in the EU, and in the USA, was lost. Who does she stay with then?

And Georgia went to this adventure for the same reasons as Russia.

The hormones began to play.

Russia jumped from the knees. Georgia jumped from the knees. And-xrr-r-r-rush! Faced foreheads in Yu. Ossetia!

I think no matter how much propaganda is inflated-both the Russian Federation and Georgia understood something.

Russia saw, felt that her brutal gestures were rejected by everyone.

They are rejected primarily not in the indifferent EU and the polite NATO. Remove the frightened CIS countries. And “fright” is manifested in them - in stiffness in relation to Russia. Yes, just like this year, they didn’t talk to Russia before - neither Azerbaijan, nor Uzbekistan, nor Tajikistan, nor Turkmenistan, nor Belarus ... Yes, no one. The subtext of this hard conversation is clear: it will not work with us like Georgia. Without expressing any support of Georgia, the CIS countries showed that they are ready to protect their sovereignty from Russia.

Russia is free to consider the CIS “zone of its interests”, but it remains to ask the CIS countries, whether they consider themselves a “zone of Russian interests”! And this question is an extremely clear answer to this question.

And Russia can not be able to do a damn thing with each of these Sesanghades - with all its thousand -class military and multiple economic superiority. No matter how the devil can do not only the United States with Russia, but with Iran, Venezuela ... The ex-president of the United States is in a hurry to PRISE-POPULATION before the President of the DPRK to delight the US population! And the point is not that the personally smiling Clinton “not a man, but a cloud in pants”, of course, not physiologically, but politically. No, not in Clinton. The fact is that the United States itself is no longer “Comrade Wolf who eats everyone”-“Comrade Wolf” now begs “Comrade Feright” to release two mice-snores. Such times today. Here is such a multipolar world. A world where the United States is not able - morally - to rape the DPRK. “Good” or “bad”, but it is. “He is right who has more rights” - the United States and the DPRK are equally right! And Israel with Palestine. And tomorrow, you look, and Georgia with Yu. Ossetia ...

And Russia lives in this world-it will be necessary to realize this and suffer according to the rules of this world, and not the diplomacy of the gunboats of 100 years of freshness. Of course, this is especially difficult for Russia: after all, in the domestic policy of “developed feudalism” we keep loyalty to 100 years of tradition, and in foreign policy we have just taken up an open demonstration of their imperialist complexes! They did not have time to taste when it suddenly turns out that Russia has as many right as Georgia and ... Abkhazia has!

So, the imperial experiment ended in complete failure.

And the general sinusoid in Russia was just as senseless and mercilessly crawled down, as before flew up.

And although the charlatans from the "geopolitics" are still weaving their backwood, I think that the enthusiasm of the authorities was very chopped. To rebuild relations with everyone - and get in the form of compensation to Yu. Ossetia ... this is strong.

So, I hope Russia received (itself made itself) a tank vaccine from imperialist policy. "And experience, son of difficult mistakes ..."

I hope that Georgia, having sipped the "fecal masses", as one of their former minister put it, was thoughtful.

And although, of course, they blame Russia and only Russia in everything, but I hope that Mr. Saakashvili in the soul at least understands that it is he is a blacksmith of his happiness!

And not only because he underestimated the military forces of Russia and overestimated his own, but also because in general, “diplomacy of the gunboats”, including in relation to his own separatists, is not much by the time.

Are you looking for help and protection against imperial Russia? Then do not capture "grades". And if you want to behave as “little Russia” (that is, as Russia in Chechnya, say), then what is your “moral advantage” to Russia and why do you count on protection from Russia?

I hope that the vaccine against imperialist policy has been made by Georgia.

And if so, then the war was not in vain ...
