Tver Governor Dmitry Zelenin noted in his opening remarks that the time has come when business is ready to invest in the restoration of cultural heritage, and the experience of the Church is invaluable here. Indeed, in Moscow, the Russian Orthodox Church, through the Investment Center, has already invested more than $150 million in the construction of housing and office complexes. It is invested in construction and in the regions. But with cultural heritage it’s worse. Temples are being restored mainly with sponsorship money. The Church so far refuses to even finance its own education system.
