He began to do this after a proposal from a member of the Danish Parliament, a Palestinian by origin, Nasser Khader, to create a union of democratically minded Muslims. Designed to become an alternative to associations of orthodox adherents of Islam, the organization has already received support from the Danish population: a week after its creation, more than three and a half thousand people signed up for it. A meeting has already been scheduled between the Democratic Muslims initiative group and the Prime Minister of Denmark, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
